Frequently Asked Questions
What do I wear?
Dress for the weather! Keep in mind that even in the summer months, the water is quite cold. We suggest non-cotton layers such as merino wool, polypropylene or other synthetic materials. Your feet will get wet, so make sure you wear shoes that have backs (no flip flops!). Any type of water sandal, neoprene booties, or old tennis shoes. It's also not a bad idea to bring a dry change of clothes.
What if it rains?
I think the better question is, what if it doesn't? Paddling in the rain is a wonderful opportunity to see wildlife that may otherwise be hiding when it's sunny and hot. Every boat comes equipped with a spray skirt, so your bottom half will stay quite dry. Be sure to wear water wicking rain layers and a good hat to keep the rain out of your eyes. Trips are rain or shine and will only be cancelled due to unsafe sea conditions or storms. Please see our cancellation policy for more inforamation.
Can I bring alcohol?
Kayaking is a fun and sometimes dangerous sport, so it is best to be functioning at your highest capacity. If we see that you are visibly intoxicated or otherwise impaired upon arrival, we will ask that you leave the tour and no refund will be given.
What are the physical requirements of using your boats?
Sea kayaking is a fun and relatively easy sport, however some basic physical requirements must be met to ensure your safety and enjoyment of your tour. You must be able to get into and out of sit inside sea kayaks without assistance. In addition, the total weight capacity of our tandem kayaks is approximately 525 pounds. If you would like more information on the specifications of the kayaks we use, please visit https://eddyline.com/products/whisper-tandem-touring-kayak. Feel free to contact us before booking if you have additional questions or concerns about fitting our kayaks.
