Tori Ayres

Founder & Guide

ACA Certified L2 Trip Leader

I followed my heart in the summer of 2016 and made a big cross country move from Nashville, TN to Bellingham, WA. Urged on by friends who said the Pacific Northwest was a healing place, I packed up my small car with just the essentials and took a huge leap of faith. I knew I wanted to work for myself, and after much soul searching and asking myself, "What are you passionate about?", the one thing that kept ringing in my ears was kayaking. All I had to do was look on the map of Bellingham, and I could see it was a paddler's paradise.  There was much to learn, so I spent every moment I could of my first summer in Bellingham on the water. I can't wait to get out and show you all the beautiful places I've discovered!

Liam McCarthy-Edwards

Lead Guide/Trainer

ACA Certified L2 Trip Leader

Hi, I’m Liam! I was born and raised in Maine, and I’ve paddled up and down my home state from lake to river to sea. I’m an avid skier and I’ve worked as a ski instructor every winter since I was 16. In the off season you can find me seeking the gnar at Mt. Baker. Otherwise I’m a huge nerd with an inordinate fondness for biology, and I’d be happy to teach you about life in the intertidal!

Isaac Becker

Guide

Hi! I’m Isaac, and I've been in love with the Salish Sea since the first time I dipped my paddle in its waters. I'm a trip leader and sea kayaking instructor for the Outdoor Center at Western Washington University, where you'll also find me making maps, friends and occasionally scones. Whether you're brand new to kayaking or a seasoned paddler, I'm here to make sure your time on the water is full of whimsy and fun.

Amber Pouley

Flex Guide

Amber is a returning guide. She usually rides bikes in the summer, but after discovering sea kayaking has really enjoyed getting out on the water as often as possible. When she's not recreating, she's probably at work at the hospital or hanging at a local brewery or cidery. She loves being able to share the beauty of our region in different ways: leading beginner mountain bike rides and now from off the shores of the Salish Sea.

Ava Mott

Camp Counselor

Hi, my name is Ava! I moved to Bellingham in the summer of 2024 after graduating from McGill University in Montreal with a teaching certification in elementary education. I'm passionate about making education fun and inclusive for every child. I love to spend time outdoors running, mountain biking, playing on the water, and camping. My experiences in my wild and beautiful surroundings have given me an appreciation for myself, the people around me, and the environment. I'm excited to join the Dragonfly Kayak Tours team as a camp counselor.

Catherine Lhamon

Camp Counselor

Catherine grew up kayaking, trail running, and skiing in the beautiful spaces surrounding her home on Whidbey Island, where she developed a love for the outdoors and a passion for sustainability. She has just completed her Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies at Eckerd College, where she focused on Marine Science and Sustainability. She has worked as a naturalist in Alaska, on a trail maintenance crew in the Rocky Mountains, and hopes to spend her life bringing people of all ages and skills into the outdoors. She is excited to return to the Pacific Northwest to share her love of nature with all!

Gavin Power

Guide

Hi there! I'm Gavin, and I’m excited to share a bit about myself. I grew up in the beautiful Heber City, Utah, where, from an early age, I enjoyed spending my free time fly-fishing, backpacking, mountain biking, skiing, and rafting. In the fall of 2023, I made the move to Washington, where I’ve developed a passion for the Salish Sea and the rich Indigenous history of the Pacific Northwest. I’m currently on a journey toward earning my bachelor's degree in archaeology. When I'm not buried in my studies, you can often find me cycling through the nearby mountains or enjoying time on the water in the bay or local rivers. I’d love to share more about the incredible cultural significance that the Pacific Northwest holds for the people who have called this place home for generations!
